Who we are...

MJ'S BBQ & SUYA is both a suya spice and pepper soup seasoning wholesale supplier in Brampton and eat-in restaurant in Toronto, Ontario. This is a family-owned and operated business established in December 2006 by Bunmi and Alaba Jubril because of their unique passion for cooking a tasty barbeque related menu.

Why we are different...

With his northern Nigerian roots, our certified food handler and executive chef was exposed to suya at a young age. Using his wealth of grilling experience, he continues to dish out slow-grilled, succulent, delicious and finger-licking juicy beef suya (a thinly sliced special beef seasoned with authentic African herbs and spices imported from Nigeria) and other barbeque menu items in a way that leaves every customer's taste bud dancing and craving more. At MJ'S, we pride ourselves in our creative menu abilities and impeccable customer service.

Our mission...

There is a noticeable growth in the African population within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and beyond. With this comes the inevitable craving for homestyle cooking among people of African origin. We are committed to satisfying this craving by providing our valued customers (Africans and non-Africans) a taste of suya and other African-style barbeque items made with our own authentic spices (no preservatives). Now you don't have to fly 14 hours to west Africa to experience this unique taste.

In line with this commitment, we also created "Meals on the Go" MJ'S frozen food, a first of its kind in Canada. These meals come with cooking instructions and nutrition facts. Our frozen spinach stew (with or without egusi), ogbono (apon) stew and Nigerian-style pepper soup are now available in African groceries stores across the GTA. We have also recently launched a 200-gram bag of MJ'S suya spice with step-by-step grilling instruction in addition to our ready-to-grill vacuum-packed frozen suya for our customers' grilling delight. In 2012, we introduced authentic Nigerian style "kilishi" (beef jerky) for our customers enjoyment. This unique ready-to-eat suya in 100-gram pack (original and spicy) is available in our Toronto location and a few stores in Brampton. These are just a few of our innovative ideas that we have been honoured sharing with you, our valued customers.

Current operations...

After 20 memorable years, we are thrilled to embark on a new chapter–shifting our focus from serving meals to sharing the flavors behind them. Now operating as a specialty spice distributor, we at MJ's will bring the same passion for quality and authenticity to sourcing premium spices, helping you create unforgettable dishes.
